Is Pop Music Just a Fad?

I know I have not done my weekly music reviews in a while. To my avid readers I apologize for not writing in a while, I want to thank you all for your patience, loyal readership and support.

In this weeks reviews I would like to review an entire genre of music I have, for the most part (except for writing an article on the 4th of July) been on a break from it.

The genre of music I'd like to review is known as pop, I am not big on the pop genre.

I will explain why, pop music with its synthesizers and "prepackaged for best resale" stylings lacks an essential element. While Britney Spears may be the "Pop princess" of the day, pop music lacks longevity (with the exception of a few artists)

50 years down the road are people going to remember today's "pop idols?" I venture to say the answer is most likely no. In pop music artists are all too often tossed aside when they become "old news" or when "the next big thing" comes along.

I would like to take this time to challenge pop stars to show their chops. Show that you are deserving of a place in the historical memories of music. Artists from many, many other genres have shown their quality long after the lights of the stage go down.

I challenge pop stars to show they are not just temporary "bubblegum teen sensations".

Show that you have what it takes to make an indelible impression on the next generation of music.
