See the Light with Bo Bice

Bo Bice released his second album “See the Light” in October of 2007. It has seen much more success than his debut album “The Real Thing” in which he didn't care much for anyway. Bice was runner-up in the 4th season of American Idol and was best known for his bluesy style of music. His debut album didn't hit the mark of who he is but this album seems to be doing the trick.

“Witness” is the first release from “See the Light.” It was released in September while the video went out in October. “Witness” reached number one on the Vh1 Top 20 for three weeks, but Bice hasn't released a second single yet. He continues to appear on various shows including American Idol performing “Witness” in order to continue promoting his album and song. “Witness” contains plenty of the southern rock sound and takes Bo Bice back to his roots. “See the Light” consist of songs written by Bice and co-writer A.J. Croce.

The video is well directed by Ramon Boutviseth. In the beginning of the video it takes to a homeless man that Bice gives money to. The next shot is Bice driving a truck that stalls. He finds himself walking a long distance with his guitar when a driver comes to pick him up. It turns out the driver was the homeless man that he gave money to. Throughout the video there are shots of Bo singing with his band in a deserted warehouse and it finishes there. The video flows with the music and is enjoyable to watch. Bice reminds me of a hippie with his clothing and hair. He gives the look of a southern rocker and the look and music fit him well.

Bo Bice set out on tour to promote the album that has been released on his own label Sugar Money/StratArt back in May of 2007 but found himself in the hospital making him end the tour dates. It is said it was a bad case of bronchitis that hospitalized Bice. Now that he has back on his feet and ready to perform once again he has set new tour dates which consist of the following:

5/30 Charenton, LA
6/21 Ortley Beach, NJ
7/11 Towson, MD
7/19 San Juan Capistrano, CA
7/24 Alpine, CA
7/25 Agoura Hills, CA
8/7 Maumee, OH
8/16 Cleveland Heights, OH

Other dates have not been set yet.

CMA Awards 2007 Predictions

Well, the time has come once again country music fans! The nominees for the 41st Annual CMA Awards have been announced and it looks like it's going to be a great show. 2007 has been a great year for country music and through this article; I'm going to discuss my predictions for the winners.

Starting off with Entertainer of the Year; the nominees are:

Kenny Chesney

Brad Paisley

Rascal Flatts

George Strait

Keith Urban

This one is going to be tough because all of the nominees have had fantastic albums. The winner for me would be Brad Paisley. He has had a great year with lots of successful videos and singles. He deserves the award the most of all the nominees.

Next, Female Artist of the Year; the nominees are:

Alison Krauss

Miranda Lambert

Martina McBride

Reba McEntire

Carrie Underwood

I think that Carrie Underwood will definitely win this award for the second year in a row. Her debut album “Some Hearts” has continued to be extremely successful with her 2 latest s#1 singles “Wasted” and the CMA award nominated “Before He Cheats”. If Carrie doesn't take it, then the winner will probably be Martina McBride. Her latest album “Wake Up Laughing” has also been very successful. It contains her CMA nominated single “Anyway”. It's going to be a tight finish and anyone can take the title.

Next, Male Artist of the Year; the nominees are:

Kenny Chesney

Brad Paisley

George Strait

Josh Turner

Keith Urban

Once again, I feel that Brad Paisley is going to win this award. However, I also think that Keith urban has a really good chance of winning. Keith has had a tough year, sorting out his life and alcohol issues and his album “Love, Pain & The Whole Crazy Thing” reflects the joy and pain in his life. He's had some great singles and videos and just might nab this award.

Next is the Horizon Award for Newcomers; the nominees are:

Jason Aldean

Rodney Atkins

Little Big Town

Kellie Pickler

Taylor Swift

In this category, Taylor Swift is definitely the winner, in my opinion. Her debut self-titled album was #1 on the Billboard Country Charts for multiple weeks and has been certified platinum. Her single “Tim McGraw” has won multiple awards and her latest single “Teardrops On My Guitar” is continually climbing the charts. She has had a great year and deserves this award.

Next, we have Vocal Duo of the Year; the nominees are:

Big & Rich

Brooks & Dunn

Montgomery Gentry

Sugarland

The Wreckers

In my opinion, Big & Rich should be taking this award. Their single “Lost In This Moment” has been extremely successful and their album “Between Raising Hell and Amazing Grace” continues to soar. They are definitely the most deserving of this award.

Following that is Group of the Year; the nominees are:

Alison Krauss & Union Station feat. Jerry Douglas

Dixie Chicks

Emerson Drive

Little Big Town

Rascal Flatts

Despite all the controversy surrounding them in the past, I think the Dixie Chicks are the frontrunners for this award. They won 4 Grammys at the 2006 Grammy awards for their album “Taking the Long Way” and for the single “Not Ready to Make Nice”. However, if the Chicks don't get it, I think that Rascal Flatts will win. Their multiple singles from their album “Me & My Gang” have soared on the charts and they won numerous awards.

Stay tuned for Part 2 for further predictions...
