Anti-War Beatles

Lennon admitted that he was unpopular because of his antiwar message in the late sixties. A high school student went in to meet the famous Beatle when he stayed the King Edward. He did a preliminary interview and helped him put a chest on his bed and then went back in the evening with a tape recorder for an interview. In the interview he gave to the fourteen year old, the music legend was clear about why he did not get United States; it was largely due to his being pro-peace. There was a reference in the interview, which was mounted with a very graphic ingenious ink flowing video that the musician's philosophy was to the American standard of waging wars, which meant exercising the military and making sure that the war industry would fill certain pockets and certain bellies. I don't think the video was well received south of the border because it shown a negative light on a sensitive issue regarding the spread of the Russian and Chinese brand of socialism. Turning back the pages of history, Lennon's anti-war espousal came at a time when the US was heavily involved in Vietnam. This was before America realized that force in the Far East would not win over the hearts of Asian populations.

The musician made his mark, as did Paul McCartney, 40 years later, on the Plains of Abraham singing in a gala event commemorating the 400th anniversary of the City of Quebec. Two hundred years ago an Anglo musician would not have had so much influence in a largely French-speaking province as he does today. What is common between how these musicians have reached their public with their lyrics and messages of peace and tolerance is that they were not anti-west or anywhere near anti-patriotic. They saw the evil behind blatant militarism and warned the world of its presence. Today we are paying the price of that with soaring fuel costs, increased global temperatures and unsolved perpetuated wars.

Hip Hop High School

I hear claims of hip hop being alive, and this may very well be true. But listening to the radio or watching television you would never really know it. And its really upsetting to me how business and business men (corrupt business men at that!) have guised themselves into the hip hop culture and made it predomitnately about getting money. Like hip hop is some sort of exclusive millionaires club. What ever happened to street smart young people making good music with what they had? And when did street smart start meaning you had to be a criminal of some sort? Why does it seem like being an ex or current drug dealer or killer is a requirement for you to be a hot rapper today? Do you know why? Because the whole culture is going pop. Yes people, hip hop is becoming more of a popularity contest than anything. Its almost like high school where young dumb dudes tryed to do some of the most outrageous and criminal acts so they could get the attention of the slutty chics that type of behavior appealed to.

That is hip hop now. Instead of trying to bring truth, enlightenment, and fresh creativity to the listeners, it seems we are just trying to be the baddest man so we can get all the club hoes. When did what the they think become so important? I thought we as a hip hop culture had an issue with the unfaithful money scheming type of female. Why all of a sudden do so many songs appeal to and congratulate this type of person now? I tell you why, cause hip hop has gone pop. Just like high school, that slut may have been a slut, but she certainly was popular. And that seems to be all that matters right now. I mean listen to the radio waves. Look at the videos. Why is everyone so preoccupied with being gangsters? Gangsters of what? You now even have rappers who really had a good life and upbringing, but hide it like its shameful or something. Even worse you have people who cant really rap or rock a crowd (or have any musical or artistic talent) who get booqoo publicity just because of their past life. What is really going on?

Yes I remember when "hard core street life" and "thuggin" and "gangsterism" entered the game. But I also remembered that even the hardest coldest pimp g brought some talent with him. NWA dropped some classical tracks and worthy lyrical content. 2Pac may have thugged us out, but he was a poet, so extremely passionate, and if you really remember, Pac was on a revolutionary type vybe. He wasnt thuggin just to thug. Or just to stunt and highside on everybody who wasnt a thug. As a matter of fact T.H.U.G.L.I.F.E. was an acronym for something deeper than being out in the streets. Nobody remembers that today though. It seems successful hip hop artist today seem to think the whole point is to be the most financially successful hip hop artist with the flyest material things. They seem to have forgotten that they are role models and they are some of the cultures leaders in raisng the youth and reforming the culture of its people. Im saddened when I see young suburban teens give up on sports and academics in hopes of living a street life. Its difficult to watch young ladies give away whats truly beautiful about themselves trying to be the "baddest hoe" in the club. But if our most succesful members of our culture are condoning and promoting this behavior for the simple fact that it makes money we will see the end of hip hop, cause it will pop. But sadly I feel hip hop has flip flopped and sold out. And the worst part is that it has sold out for so much money, that the real hip hoppers probrably will never get a chance to but it back.

All About Renaissance Music

The Renaissance music changed very much from the Middle Ages.

One of the main different styles of music was Motet, which was a vocal composition primarily during the 14thcentury. Another type of music during the Renaissance was Mass, which was a part of the text of a Roman Catholic set to music, to be sung by a choir. The last Major music kind was Madrigal, a song with parts for several, usually solitary voices, that was popular in England in the 16thand 17thcenturies.

Greensleeves is one of my particularly preferred songs. Greensleeves (a madrigal song) might have been written by Henry the VIII. Madrigal used singing and instruments to perform songs. Madrigal also started secular songs. These songs didn't have to do with religion. People started to write secular songs because they wanted to explore thoughts other then religion. This intrigued people to have fun with music and people did. Songs weren't so gloomy now, as they were in the middle ages.

Renaissance music was so different from before, everyone could just love music. People sang more, learned to play more instruments and read music! There was just so much to do and learn in the Renaissance in all topics!

Three Awesome Sub Genres of Hip Hop and Rap

Yo yo, s'happenin down in the hood ma homies!? I... Oh to hell with that, I'm way to white bred to talk street properly. This article is on some of the sub genres of hip hop and rap. Most people, when they think of rap get the image of the American gangsta. You know, your tupac, your 50 cent, massive muscled black guys with AK-47's and gold chains rapping about how much money they make and how they shoot anyone who disrespects them.

While this is probably the most identifiable area of rap, it is by no means the only one. Like any other big group of music, rap has its own sub genres, all of which sound very different to one another. So, without further ado, let's take a butcher's hook at some of them.

Reggaeton

Just as gangsta rap is traditionally associated with the black community, Reggaeton is a form of Hip-hop that's traditionally associated with the Hispanic populace. Most reggaeton artists are Latino, and the preferred language of the genre is Spanish rather than English. Right off the bat this makes for an interesting sound as Spanish is so much more pleasant to listen to that English.

Unlike gangsta rap, reggaeton is mainly sung rather rapped, but rapping is not uncommon within the genre itself. Many songs combine the two, creating a counterpoint style of structure which is both pleasant and interesting to listen to. Many reggaeton artists do however keep the typical ‘gangsta' or ‘street' image, so often associated with rap and hip-hop.

Perhaps the biggest difference in style between reggaeton and gangsta rap lies in the lyrics. This is a shame, because I don't speak Spanish (English is hard enough), I don't get the full force of the art. Where gangsta rap focuses a lot on self promotion, the mean streets, drugs, guns and hookers, reggaeton explores a very different area. Common themes include love stories, and real life problems that many ordinary people, not just rich musicians, face in their day to day lives. That's not to say that there's none of the gangsta elements in reggaeton lyrics, there are plenty of songs which explore this area of life if that's what you're interested in. As Reggaeton is so heavily associated with, and performed by Hispanic and Latino artists, the genre has also become a flagship for the ideas of racism and cultural identity, much like gangsta rap in inner city areas.

If you are interested in reggaeton, here are some artists you can check out, the names are hyperlinked to an example youtube video:

Don Omar (Closer to hip-hop than rap)

Wisin & Yandel (blends rap and singing)

Ivy Queen (Similar to Don Omar, a female artist)

Oh, and if you have GTA IV, tune into the radio station ‘San Juan Sounds', that's all Reggaeton!

Nerdcore

Also known as ‘geeksta rap'. A lot of people have heard nerdcore without realizing it, and many are actually fans. There's somewhat of a debate as to what constitutes nerdcore, some argue that any track which focuses primarily on traditionally geeky subjects (computers, D&D stuff like that) qualifies. Some people say that nerdcore is any music that gains popularity in the geek community. Still more people claim that only rap and DJ'ing that focus on geek culture count. Wherever you draw the line, there's one certain thing that pretty much everything that gets lumped into the geek core category has in common- it's all about the Pentiums baby.

Nerdcore's musical and lyrical style usually parody that of gansta rap, often to the point of parodying specific songs. Just take the lyrics of any gangsta rap you want and replace the guns with laptops, the drugs with videogames and the hoes with computer code. One big nerdcore artist is Weird Al Yankovich, who's made a career out of parodying everyone from Nirvana to Chamillionaire.

Nerdcore is about more than parody though (though it's probably how it started). Many artists create their own original tracks. Other artists focus on the musical side of the genre, creating techno and trance style tracks, often made up of parts from videogames.

Don't make the mistake of thinking that nerdcore is just remixes and rehashes of other people's work and styles, done by lonely geeks in their spare time. Artists like MC Lars and Optimus Rhyme, are big name artists in their own right.

The most common themes in Nerdcore are common aspects of geek life; office jobs, computers and whatever ‘geeky' hobbies the artist has. Obviously, these would make for pretty boring music so nerdcore is often satirical to entertain its listeners.

Artist who you can check out:

MC Lars (Popular back in 2006, made it into the British charts)

Optimus Rhyme (A more chilled out ‘cool' band. Think the Fugees)

MC Frontalot (One of the flagship artists of the genre)

Metalcore/Rap Metal/Nu Metal

Probably the best known sub genre of hip hop, yet also the most hated, probably due to the fact fans of metal and fans of rap are supposed to hate each other. Metalcore blends the heavy, powerful sounds of metal with rap. The way this is done can vary wildly, Linkin Park for example used rap primarily as the verse structure with singing as the chorus in their first album, hybrid theory, but switched to mashing the two up in their next album Meteora (I'm not counting reanimation). By the third album the rap element had diminished considerably. But this isn't a review of them, just an example of how it can be done.

Slipknot have maintained a fairly consist style, the highly distorted heavy backing of instruments against lyrics delivered in the traditional rap style. They vary things, but not greatly. The formula works and produces some interesting listening.

With other artists, the influence is a lot more subtle. Nu metal is a genre that draws on a lot on hip hop, specifically rap for its sounds without actually copying for it. For example, Disturbed's lead singer David Draiman delivers extremely fast rhythmic lyrics, a lot like many rappers. Many of the rhythms and beats are also vaguely reminiscent of hip hop, just with a much faster tempo.

Metalcore lyrics tend to draw a lot more heavily on the metal side of the music rather than the rap side. Lyrics include the destruction of the world, sticking it to the man, teenage angst and all other things wholesome and rated for the family.

Notable artists:

Papa Roach (Primarily focus on rap. Shame that's the clean version of the song, but it was that or am AMV)

Slipknot (Heavy metal rap. Not for your grandparents to listen to. Unless one's a closet metal fan like my grandma)

Lamb of God (A personal favorite. Like slipknot but more legible).

Well, I hope I've showed you rap and hip hop can be more than just bitches and ho's. If you're interested then just search youtube for various different languages within the genre. You'd be amazed how different it all is.

A 25-gospel Rhythms Countdown

I See the Lord

The definition of this song is one of deep encounter with the Lord. To see the Lord is to picture the Lord with profound eyes. Whenever this song is played, I look into the firmament in which I was born and see the Lord. I notice His garment filling the entire temple. Words cannot express the depth of what I am envisioning. As the verse states, “And the whole earth is filled with His glory”, I just want to melt down with shouts. This song made it in my top twenty-five.

Yeah, yeah, yes His whole world is filled with His glory. Yeah, yeah, the whole world is filled with His glory.

Come, Jesus, Come

There is nothing better than calling Jesus into your life. I have gone through trials and tribulations and all I want is the presence of the Lord. It was not easy to bring up four children alone. Mustering come Jesus come is making every attempt to get Him to show up. I want to be filled with His presence. I anticipate His coming but today seem to be the day when He should return. I want Him to restore His kingdom especially when everything is rocketing sky high in prices. It feels as if it is the end of the world. I want His return so I can shout, “Come Jesus comes, as we await your return”.

Oh Jesus, Jesus, we are your children. Oh, ooh, Jesus, I am one of your children. Come and rescue me.

Who Is Like The Lord?

I know I cannot sing but I can dance and this is one song I would definitely apply three steps to. The gist is, although I cannot sing, I always give it a try on this song. “Who is like the Lord the One who ….” The emphasis I placed on each word is unbelievable, it make my daughters laugh. I made sure every word is panted out from the bottom of my soul. This is one song you can practice on to fine tune your voice and God loves it too.

Yes Lord, give it to me Lord because there is no one like you. Show us your glory Father Yahweh eh, eh.

Fill This Place

This song is one that is requesting a true encounter with your God. It is like addressing the lover of your life. Singing this song is like making a spiritual connection with your true love. A married couple needs to apply this song to their life. The words express it exactly as how it should be. Listen to the words, “I'm here to meet with you come and meet with me. I'm here to find you reveal yourself to me”. Your relationship should be one of a blissful moment and so should your relationship be with the Lord as well.

Rock it to me Lord. Rock it to me Lord as you reveal yourself to me. I love You and I need You, Lord.

T'is So Sweet To Trust In Jesus

Having full knowledge of Christ is filling your soul with sweetness. It is so sweet to know you can trust in Him. It is so sweet to trust and know that He died for our sins. It's like having your older brother takes the blame when your mother returned home and asked who eat all the cookies and you said not me. She immediately assume it is your older brother who is not home to defend himself. She took you at your words. Well, you can take God at His word and rest on His promises. It is really sweet to trust in Jesus.

Eh, eh, eh, sing it to me Lord as it is so sweet to trust in you.

Holy, Holy, Holy, Holy

This song repeats the word holy five times just to emphasize the magnitude of God and His holiness. The lamb being above all and is supreme. There is no substitute to His majesty. The angels honor God singing holy, holy, holy, holy, unto God. It is good to follow after the angels and honor God too with the same words. Make known God's holiness.

Holy, holy, holy, unto the Lord God of Israel. I sing holy unto your name. Yeah and yeah as I sing holy to Your name.

His Holiness

You ought to give to the Lord as He is the Mighty One. You ought to serve Him with all glory and strength. If you give to God all the glory with all your strength, don't be surprise as He will bless you. All He needs from us is all the glory due His name. Take time to worship the Lord in the beauty of His holiness.

Let me give You praise Lord because You are the only One who deserves all the praise because of your holiness.

Nothing But The Blood

This song starts with a question that already has an answer. The question is what can wash away your sins and it supplies the answer nothing but the blood of Jesus. There is no other answer although some may say there are five possibilities to a question. In this case, only the blood of Jesus can wash away your sins.

Even if you asked the question again and again, the same answer would apply. God knows what it would require to cleanse man from their sins. He sent His son Jesus to do away with our sins. The song is of redemption. Jesus blood is the redeeming sacrifice to wash away our sin. This song is a must to be song at any liturgy.

Eh te, eh te, eh, eh, nothing but the blood of Jesus.

Again I Say Rejoice

The words of this song, “Come bless the Lord come bless the Lord, draw near to worship Christ the Lord”, say it all. I find this song very difficult to sing but I enjoy it so much that it is highly ranked about my best of gospel songs. I enjoy a very solid voice echoing this tune. It starts out high on a high note and ends on a high tone and the higher one gets singing this song the better it becomes for the soul. It reminds me of the excellence of the Master. We ought to bless His holy name yes His holy name and declare His goodness. If I ever take voice lessons, maybe I will be able to manage this song.

Yes Lord, I really want to bless you, Lord. I really want to bless you, Lord. Eh, eh, eh, Lord.

Revive Us Again

This song may have stemmed from the revival movement across the country when men felt the urge to worship God. When singing this sing, one is required to dip low, stamp your feet and swing the arms from down and across you face. Yes, this is a dance step but this is how one will react to this revivalist's rhythm. It is a time to give God glory especially when one receives a blessing. The words, “Hallelujah thine is the glory”, is assurance that only God can get such glory. Yet at the same time you want God to keep on reviving you so that the soul stayed in melody for Him. The word amen at the end of the verse is certifying to awesomeness of God.

O'my, o'my, Lord, is you going to revive me again Lord? I want your grace.

Open The Eyes Of My Heart

The metaphor used in this rhythm is very deep. How can God open the eyes of your heart? Your really don't have eyes in your heart to be opened but if a person gets the meaning, he or she is well on their way to have a Christ-like spirit. The need to be softened and asking God to open the eyes of your heart is asking to be compassionate for others. The song then continues wanting to see God more or less Christ in all their doings. This song is a blast and I enjoy it very much when it is played. I rock my head and I mumbled it through at church. One does not have to repeat the verses but recollect the resonance of each word.

O, yes, it is you again, O' Lord, open my hearts so I can see you.

I Will Exalt The One

The choice to exalt the One who is the Maker of the universe is one of the best of choices. What one can say, but to honor God. The words in this song are giving a person the ability to recognize the Savior as He deserves everything one has to offer. The comparison that there is no gold, no precious pearl or nothing on earth that compares to the Lord. With such powerful words, the most one can do singing this song is to give it all. The rhythm goes on and on with words such as, “Lord here I stand with empty hands”. Oh, what a note full of humility, is a reminder to give the Lord all.

Oh Yah, Oh Lord, Yah, I will exalt the One that is higher than everything.

Wonderful Merciful Savior

Wonderful merciful Savior is a reflection of God's grace. He is the precious Redeemer and the best of Friends who would have thought that a Lamb such as Christ could rescue the souls of men. Jesus came into the world to rescue the souls of men because men are sinful beings. This song ranks high on my list because if it wasn't for Jesus dying on the cross and bore my sins, I would have been a lost one. I just have to remind myself of the wonderful merciful person Jesus is to me.

Aah, Lord, aah, release me from my pains oh wonderful and merciful Savior.

Only You

This is a song that must be song in tabernacles or churches. Coming to God and expressing oneself shouting no one but you Lord can satisfy this longing in my heart. If you ever feel any type of loneliness, here is a song that can uplift your spirit. The song begins in a low and slow tune giving one the chance to cling to God. The song also demands one drawing near to God so that he or she can be filled and be satisfied.

One more time Lord, I want to hear from You Lord and only you, King of this universe.

Trust In You

If your faith is low, here is a song that can build up your faith. God has always been and He will always be faithful to His words. When you cry out to God and your heart is overwhelmed, He will hear you. Just don't give up. You just have to hang in there to what you are believing in. He will come through for you. He came through for me and I know He will come through for you. Keep on singing and better yet keep on dancing. He has always been, and He will always be faithful”.

Come Lord and bless us as we trust in You and only You.

I Believe

When God is calling you and you respond, you are scheduled for a blessing. The rhythm stresses the first word just to allow the momentum of being important. The Father recognizes that He needs a servant. This song is one of my favorites knowing that God needs man. The words begins by saying you are calling me. These are powerful words as God needs your help, and whenever you respond, you make a remarkable response by saying you have touched my soul. You continue to let God know how broken your heart is and only Him can make you whole again. I love this song.

Hallelujah, hallelujah, Lord, I believe in Christ and I love You. Yeah, yeah, I love you Lord.

Come, Now Is The Time To Worship

Come now is the time to worship is a plea from God. It is a time to give your heart to Him. The verse is repeated three times just to get one to respond to His call. It is always time to worship the Lord. Even though we are consumed by work, family life, and God you know what, it is always time to worship and praise the Lord. The word Come at the beginning has a rumbling sound to it. It has that punch effect as if it making a demand. I love it for it easy beat and a good song for anyone who want to sing along with the choir.

Come Lord, this is the time for you to refresh my heart. Come now Lord, this is the time as I worship You.

Refresh My Heart

It is good to ask God to refresh your heart and renew your love. It is easy to fall out of love for God especially when a major heartbreak kicks in. But having knowledge of the Master and knowing that He is God in spite of everything, you will be able to ask for forgiveness and have Him refresh your heart. I love this song because it is easy to sing. The tone is moderate and the beat is easy to catch on to.

Amen and amen to the God of Israel as He refreshes my heart. I love You Yah, the God of Glory.

Soon And Very Soon

This soon and very soon song has a rocking beat to it. It is one that will have you moving on your feet. Just to be decent and not wanting to shake too much, you let the rhythm ring out of your heart but it is very difficult for me not to move and rock to the beat. After all, I am praising God and having a glorious time. It should not matter how I am reacting to the song. This song is a reminder that the Lord will come soon.

Glory, Hallelujah, and amen. Glory, for You are coming very soon.

My Joy

The quick beat and high note bring joy. What a joy for the Lord to take your mourning into dancing. As the song moves its rapid repetition, a person feels relief of any grief. This song reflects on God's goodness for eradicating any problem in life. This is a song that calls for a strong vocal just to move rapidly along from verse to verse. It is a joy to know God can do the impossible.

Ata Adonia, ata Adonai, I want more of your joy.

You Are God

To know God is to know the power that lies within you. This song brings to remembrance the awesome power and glory of the Majesty. He is God of the highest mountain and God of the deepest sea. His love is great for you so why not worship Him. This is a moment to reflect on His total power and love. This one is ranked high on my list and this song calls for respect for the Master.

Give it to me Lord, Give it to me, eh, eh, give it to me, love, peace, health, and wealth as you are God of the highest mountain and God of the deepest sea.

Beautiful One

One just has to sit back and cling to the words of this song. The song tells how wonderful God is and God unfailing love. It continues to rant on how the cross has spoken mercy over us. We may not understand fully why God made the choice to pour His love over us as He did when He had Christ died for us. All we can do is accepted the fact and that is what that made it wonderful.

Glory, Lord, glory, Lord, eh, eh, make my life complete in you eh, eh glory, glory, glory.

God of All

Sing God of all is like singing a catchy little song. The words are light and easy. All short notes with a swinging tune. We have come to praise you and lift your name on high. It is saying God you are all. The song moves on by repeating the first two lines, but to make it more meaningful, one should repeat the first two lines seven times for a blessing. God is all and of all in all the earth. Let's lift His name on high above everything. He is worthy. A person can sing this song while driving to work in his or her heart.

God of Heaven, you are exalted. I come to you in brokenness. You are my King.

Lord You're Beautiful

When singing this song, the emphasis is on the word Beautiful. It is telling the Lord how beautiful He is. All one needs from this song is getting a connection with Jesus. His face is what one wants to see. The tune is light and does not require a strong voice. The words are an act of humility and require God's attention. But in order to get God's attention, give him worship. True worship is the focus for God to be on you as a child. The lyric moves on and on and ends with such fine words, “Your grace abounds to me”. It is an excellent tune and about to be my best.

Lord, you are beautiful; your face is all I see. Oh, yes Lord, your face is all I see.

Great is Thy Faithfulness

Do not sit back and allow the choir to take all the blessings that come with this song. This one is a power house and is a favorite among churches. Great is God's faithfulness is the epitome of this song. Such words, blended with the tune, are doing a cleansing of the soul and breaking down the barrier between man and God. The heart is opening up and what is coming out is true worship. At time, the laity will stand in reverence whenever this song makes it on the church selection for that day. God forever will be as He is the Creator of this universe. Besides, the words, the tune is excellent and is very effective in softening the heart. The church can experience miracles during the chanting of this song. It is my number one choice.

Yeah, yeah, hallelujah, hallelujah, great is God's faithfulness amen and amen.

On Fame and Being a Music Idol

When fame comes quick, young adults may not know how to allocate their time and they can reach a dilemma. That was a statement made by an early pop singer. Another famous person, Anne Murray said about the same thing when talking about how young people reach stardom fast. She was twenty-five when she got her lucky break and he was much younger. They also talked about how long they will continue in show business and why they continue. Both of them feel the need to still be active in life even though it has been years since they both got platinum records for the work they have done. Paul specifically talked about his mortality. Here are some other details on their careers.

Anne Murray mentioned that today a person does not even have to have a voice to "sing". In fact with rap music that is much the case. Both have compiled recordings with other artists they have worked with. Both are still very active people with a burning desire to continue what they do best, bringing entertainment to the public.

He talked about his mortality and not wanting to be there when the angel of death appears. One thing I noticed was his zest for life as he quipped about having been fortunate to get out of thee then small town Ottawa to make it big with seasoned performers like Frank Sinatra who he wrote songs for. That zest probably explains why he hasn't entered a frightful faze about having to go sometime. Maybe it was his candidness, which we can look up to: "we all have to go sometime" he added. But in the meantime he keeps working and performing and his reason is that if you stand still people throw dirt at you.

Anne on the other hand referred to her notoriety largely coming from her golfing average. That is more people have given her acclaim for her golfing than for all the musical hits she has ever put together. There might be irony in the last statement but sometimes fame does not come the way we expect it to.

Nancy Sinatra Followed in Frank's Footsteps

Nancy Sinatra was born on 6th August 1940 in Jersey City, New Jersey. Both Nancy and her brother tried to follow in the footsteps of their famous father, Frank Sinatra, but it was Nancy who made it to the top.

Her hits included 'These Boots Are Made For Walking' (1966) and the duet she did with her father, 'Something Stupid'. The duet with Frank Sinatra was slightly controversial because the act was viewed by some as unsuitable for a father daughter combination but inspite of this, the song made it to the top.

These Boots Are Made For Walking (One-Hit Wonder)

You keep saying you've got something for me.
something you call love, but confess.
You've been messin' where you shouldn't have been a messin'
and now someone else is gettin' all your best.
These boots are made for walking, and that's just what they'll do
one of these days these boots are gonna walk all over you.
You keep lying, when you oughta be truthin'
and you keep losin' when you oughta not bet.
You keep samin' when you oughta be changin'.
Now what's right is right, but you ain't been right yet.
These boots are made for walking, and that's just what they'll do
one of these days these boots are gonna walk all over you.
You keep playin' where you shouldn't be playin
and you keep thinkin' that you´ll never get burnt.
Ha! I just found me a brand new box of matches yeah
and what he know you ain't HAD time to learn.
Are you ready boots? Start walkin'!

In the 1960's Nancy married teen heart throb Tommy Sands and she appeared in a number of movies including 'Speedway' (1966), with Elvis, and won a Emmy Award for the 'Movin' With Nancy' (1968).

10 Motivating Hard Rock Songs for the Gym

These are, in my opinion, 10 of the greatest songs to listen while working out in the gym. Find the power and motivation you sometimes can't get, and enjoy working out. Hope they work for you!

Hard Rock Volume

Whitesnake - Here I go again

Year: 1982 Album: Saints & Sinners

In my opinion, a motivating song for anything you want to do that requires some extra effort, for example a gym routine. Personally I recommend the 1987 version, it sounds better and has more power.

A perfect opener for the gym routine CD. “I ain't wasting no more time”

Alice Cooper - House of fire

Year: 1989 Album: Trash

Alice Copper is a must in this list, and surely this song will keep you pumped and full of fire from the beginning. Burn that muscles!

ACDC - Shoot to thrill

Year: 1980 Album: Back in black

Great song for a great album. Angus Young's guitar creating some suspense in the beginning and then Brian Johnson's voice appearing to blow your head and definitely motivating anyone.

“Shoot to thrill, play to kill!”

Aerosmith - Eat the rich

Year: 1993 Album: Get a grip

The other great opener of the list for the CD. The power of the guitar riff and the drums gives you the strength to wake up and start working out really motivated.

Deep purple - Burn

Year: 1974 Album: Burn

Keeps the fire alive, keeps you alive. There's not much more to say about this song, it's a classic and one of the best ones, it's a must in this list and if you don't know it, just listen to it and you'll probably think the same way as me. An old one, but one of the best ones.

“All I hear I is burn!”

Motley Crue - Live wire

Year: 1981 Album: Too fast for love

“Plug me in”, “Turn me on”, Since the moment this song starts to bang in your head, you'll be automatically with the need of using some energy, and what better place to do it than in the gym. Use the strength to become “a little bit better than you used to be”.

Def Leppard - Pour some sugar on me

Year: 1987 Album: Hysteria

Another classic album from one of my favorite bands. “Red light, yellow light, green light, GO!” Just listen to this song and it will be inevitable to start moving. Find the strength in this masterpiece creation.

Van Halen- Panama

Year: 1984 Album: 1984

“Pistons popping, ain't no stopping now!” Come on, don't give up, and take out some extra power to complete the work out by listening to Eddie Van Halen and company. Although I personally prefer Sammy Hagar, in this song Lee Roth can really make you move.

POISON - Ride the wind

Year: 1990 Album: Flesh and blood

It's almost the end of the routine and probably your strength and motivation are going down quickly. The perfect moment for this song. Recharge the last batteries and ride the wind.

Deep Purple - Highway star

Year: 1972 Album: Machine head

Deep Purple does it again. The only band that has two songs in the list.

Finally, you're about to finish the routine. And it's the moment for this song that I personally love. Blackmore created here the best guitar solo in the history of music in my opinion. It really takes you to another place, full of power, full of speed; just let your head enjoy it while your body finishes the last reps of the day.

Now you're done. “I'm a highway star!”

 Bonus track

Edguy - Lavatory love machine

Year: 2004 Album: Hellfire club

OK, I know this is not hard rock, but is one of my favorite songs and it's really full of power, keeps you alive and wanting for more. “No broken wings to stop me stream!” Long live Hellfire Tobi, power metal representative in the list. Optional.

The Best English Songs, Which Won Five Top Awards of the 50th Annual Grammies

Amy Winehouse has emerged as the most potential female artist when she was declared as the winner in the 50th Grammy Award. She received a total of five awards: Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best New Artist, Best Female Pop Vocal Performance and Best Pop Vocal Album.

Amy Jade Winehouse, an English singer-songwriter, has emerged as one of the best female artist in the history of music. She was born on September 14, 1983 in the UK, but she has showed her talent in singing and writing song lyrics in her early age. Her second album "Back to Black" won her five Grammys, and it was also her first album which was successfully secured a place in the U.S. Billboard 200 album charts. When this album was released in the U.S, it has been sold for 5x platinum in the first week, and entered the seventh in the Billboard 200 album list. This album hit the U.S. market most probably due to her main song "You Know I'm No Good" which was channeled extensively via all major television networks in the U.S. Her 2007 follow-up album released on February 14, won her another award of BRIT Award. This was followed suit by her winning award of Ivor Novello Award. These awards have undoubtedly brought her a pride and fame as the best British Female Artist.

Among the new generation of female pop singers, Amy Winehouse's voice is unique. When someone listens to her songs, you will naturally think of Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday and other jazz veteran like The Supremes Group in the 1960s. Her voice incorporated the taste of popular singers like Lauryn Hill and Macy Gray.

From the music point of view, a 23-year-old singer who could sing with a mature attribute is rarely encountered. Her songs of "You Know I'm No Good", "He Can Only Hold Her", "Love Is A Losing Game", and "Back To Black" are some of the songs that let your nut wondering around the beauty of the art and music. Compared to other young female artist like Joss Stone, Amy Winehouse's has obviously showed a distinction to a milestone.

Her talent in singing particularly dealing with her eclectic mix of various musical genres which include jazz, R&B and soul plus her notable signature beehive hairstyle has captured media attention apart from her fans. She portrays a good attribute as a singer with her unique appearance and an intoxicating voice. She has indeed incorporated all her feelings into her music. It seems like the music has stood lively in her world. One can feel this by listening to her songs attentively. While she is a great singer, it is indeed sad to learn that she has confirmed to have developed early signs of the symptoms which could progress to emphysema in June 2008.

Below are some of Amy Winehouse's songs, keep stay tune and enjoy!

The Who

The Who is one of my favorite bands. They have created a large amount of amazing songs and changed rock as we know it. This band also contains my favorite drummer, Keith Moon.

The Beatles

I bet you saw this coming. The Beatles should be on every greatest rock bands list. They are one of the most famous bands ever. Anyone who hasn't heard any of The Beatles music needs to crawl out from under their rock.

The Rolling Stones

The Rolling Stones are another one of my favorite bands. As with The Beatles, they are one of the most famous bands ever. Not only are they one of the most famous, but they are also one of the oldest bands ever, the band was formed way back in 1962!

AC/DC

This is probably my number one favorite band. They have a unique sound, and created so many rock anthems it's not even funny. AC/DC has a signature sound that just sticks with me and makes their songs very well known.

Motley Crue

How could I complete a list like this without a great 80's hairband like Motley Crue? This band was formed in 1981 by Nikki Sixx and Tommy Lee. Tommy Lee is one of the best drummers ever in my opinion. He would often perform stunts like playing the drums upside down. My favorite song from Motley Crue would have to be Kickstart My Heart. Give it a listen!

Guns N' Roses

Another great band. They have created some amazing and well known hits such as Welcome to the Jungle, Sweet Chile o' Mine, Knockin' on Heavens Door, Live and Let Die, and November Rain. Guitar icon Slash is part of GNR, which has made them quite a bit more famous.

Led Zeppelin

Ahh yes, who could forget the Zeppelin. Formed way back in 1968, this is another one of the most famous bands ever. They have created songs such as the famous Immigrant Song, and Stairway to Heaven.

Iron Maiden

This British metal band was formed in 1975 by one of the best bassists ever; Steve Harris. They are known mostly from lead singer Bruce Dickinson's unique voice. Some great hits by them are Run to the Hills, and Number of the Beast.

Deep Purple

Another pioneer of metal/hard rock. I don't really know too much about Deep Purple, but I do know some songs such as Highway Star, and the very famous Smoke on the Water.

Pink Floyd

Last but not least is Pink Floyd. Pink Floyd are another English rock band formed in 1964. They have sold 74.5 million albums in the US alone. That's pretty good if you ask me.

That about raps it up for now. I'm sure I've left out a few famous band, but those are for another day. Hope you enjoyed my article! Feel free to comment.
