Many actors have made the transition from acting to recording music and done quite well. These 10 however are not in that category.
Kristy and Jimmy McNichol
Best known for her role as Buddy Lawrence on the series Family, Kristy and her brother Jimmy (also an actor) recorded a few albums with the help of Donnie and Marie Osmond
Dudley Moore
Who could forget Dudley`s performance as Arthur? But although he can play piano, he should leave the singing to someone else. Anybody else.
Telly Sevalas
The lolly licking cop should have stuck to fighting crime.
Steven Seagal
The sounds of the machine guns he used in his films sounded better.
David Soul
He wasn`t much when he wasn`t Hutch.
Cybal Shepherd
Cybal should never have been Moonlighting as a singer.
Jack Palance
Jack was a professional heavyweight boxer in the 1940`s and won an Oscar for his role in City Slickers in 1991. With so much talent as an actor, he should have stayed out of the recording studio.
Russell Crowe
Although he made a great Gladiator, it seems that when he married a singer, Russell thought he could sing too.
Scott Baio
Best known as Chachi on Happy Days, Baio was later given his own short-lived T.V. sit-com co-staring Erin Morin. What were the producers thinking? This guy couldn`t sing to save his life.
Andy Griffith
Andy`s singing talent may have been appreciate in Mayberry, but it`s hard to believe he actually recorded a couple of albums.
From what I read it is an interesting article. I hope they get the picture part fixed. I will be back to take another look.

Most actors are multi-talented, and a lot of them can sing. I have to admit I liked David Soul's singing, but as for the others....

Hmm... sometimes people just don't realize that they can't do everything...not many people can sing :) Great article!

I enjoyed the article, but I will disagree with you about Andy Griffith, because I was raised listening to music when it was music. Most of the stuff folks call music today is nothing but loud gibberish or politically motivated or extremely sexual with bad language.
Interesting subject, though.
God Bless,

I agree with you Nelson, Interesting article but I liked Andy Griffen. He was a good singer and entertainer in the manner of the times.

Sorry, I saw my mistake as I submitted, I meant Griffith

Andy Griffith is probably one of the most talented musician/singers on the list! Dudley Moore may not sing, but I would only hope to be less than half the piano player he is. David Soul did have a hit in the 1970's. Was it "Don't Give up on Us Baby? Ididn't research it, I'm going on memory, which fades as you get older.I agree with Nelson. Music has taken a turn these days.

Lanne,
Great article, but I have to agree with everyone else, Andy Griffith not only could act, but he could definitely sing. Actually singing is how he got his start in show business. Its just too bad a man with so much talent, hasn't ever won any academy awards, which is a shame. Again great article Lanne!

Lanne, I love your new hat, and your way with words. It was an entertaining article despite the fact that the pictures were missing. But I was also raised listening to Andy Griffith's gospel music, and think they were quite good. I still have a few.

To all Andy Griffith fans. I did not mean to imply that Andy was not a talented man. He has always been one of my favorite people to watch. I still watch the Mayberry reruns whenever I can. What I meant by including him was not that he could not sing, but that I didn`t think his vocals were his strong point. I actually enjoy that type of music, but if I had to choose...I`d rather listen to his co-star Jim Neighbours.

Then there are some that did okay. Rick Springfield for one. Not that he is a "great" singer but he was respectable. I think Wayne Brady acually has a good voice.
