Viva La Diva: Top 10 Divas of All Time

The term diva was originally used to describe a female opera singer, but these days it is redefined to refer to a female singer of superior talent. Here are my top 10:

  1. Sarah Brightman

Without any doubt she almost always makes up to the first spot in diva lists. The way she sings and the way she presents herself to her fans absolutely makes her a diva.
  2. Whitney Houston

Let's forget the scandals she has been getting herself into lately and remember what Whitney Houston used to be. Power with ease, she was one of the strongest women in the music industry. Her voice is superb and only a few could compete with her.
  3. Maria Callas

A lot of people mix her up with Sarah Brightman. Yes, they do have a lot of similarities but they are completely different. She is one of the greatest sopranos at the moment.
  4. Mariah Carey

Just listening to her voice (and yes I know a lot of people hate it) you could easily tell that this woman was born to be a diva. She has one of the best voices out there and she made sure she uses it well and it paid her back.
  5. Mylene Farmer

She is gorgeous, she is a lady, she is smart and she is brilliant! Nothing else to say.
  6. Ann Wilson

This woman just gets better every day and nobody can deny it. Listen to one of their CD's (Heart's) and you can sense the diva gene in every song.
  7. Celine Dion

She always finds herself on the diva lists. She is caring, humble and loving and yes even though we have not had a CD from her in a while, she is still doing well in her music career.
  8. Tina Turner

What can be said about this diva here? Excellent voice, body and character.
  9. Diana Ross

Look up diva on the dictionary and you will see her name right next to it. Her fans will always remember when she exited the Superbowl by helicopter.
  10. Cher

She said herself that she is a diva, and she was saying the truth. Her success in the music industry together with her TV and movies are astounding. And she continues to inspire people from all around the world everyday.

Honorable Mention: Dana International

A different kind of diva...

Obviously you don't like the lady but Barbara Streisand should be in the top three at the least. Celine Dionne is great and it's because she sounds so much like Barbara.
