Ozzy, Kiss and More to Rock New Zealand

Six huge bands have will play Rock two Wellington on March 22/23. Ozzy, Kiss and more will feature, who else?

Ten hours of exploding rock n roll is ready to hit Westpac Stadium in Wellington, New Zealand on March 22/23, with the gig named Rock 2 Wellington.

On the March 22, Lordi, Alice Cooper and Kiss will take centre stage, with Poison, Whitesnake and Ozzy Osbourne stealing the show on March 23. Sonic Altar, The Valves and The Symphony of Screams from New Zealand will also entertain the crowd.

Here is a closer look at some of the bands coming to New Zealand for this huge gig.

LORDI

Formed in 1996, Tomi Putaansu named the band from Helsinki,Finland. The band wears monster costumes, playing hard rock and heavy metal.

Lordi's band members are Lordi (Vocals & programming), Amen (Guitars & backing vocals), Ox (Bass & backing vocals), Kita (Drums & backing vocals) and Awa (Keyboards & backing vocals.

The band released two albums in 1996, Get Heavy and The Arockalypse.

ALICE COOPER

Alice Cooper will arrive in Wellington to shock the New Zealand crowds with his stage antics. His horror like stage show will feature guillotines, electric chairs and fake blood plus much more.

Alice Cooper released 24 studio albums and 7 live albums.

His live albums were The Alice Cooper Show(1977),A Fistful Of Alice(1997),Brutally Live(2003),Live at Montreux 2005(2006),Ladies Man(1988),Live At The Whiskey A Go Go 1969(1991) and Live at the Cabo Wabo 96(2005).

This will be a show not to be missed.

KISS

The legendary Kiss formed in 1973 in New York City, also with an amazing stage show of fire breathing, pyrotechnics and blood spitting. Their brand of rock has sold more than 100 million albums.

Kiss is Paul Stanley (Rhythm Guitars and Lead Vocals), Gene Simmons (Bass Guitar and Lead Vocals), Tommy Thayer(Lead Guitar) and Eric Singer(Drums).

The band has released 22 studio albums and 4 live albums.

This maybe the last time the band comes to New Zealand.

POISON

Poison kicked off in 1983, playing glam and hard rock and also featured in the hair band era. They have recently been touring with Ratt.

Poison consist of Brett Michaels (Lead Vocals, Rhythm Guitar, Acoustic Guitar, Hamonica), C.C Deville(Lead and Rhythm guitars & Vocals), Bobby Dall(Bass, Keyboards, Piano and Backing Vocals) and Ricky Rockett(Drums,percussion and backing vocals).

The bands has released albums Look What The Cat Dragged In (1986), Open Up And Say…Ahh(1988),Flesh And Blood(1990), Swallow This(1991), Native Tongue(1993), Poisons Greatest Hits 1986-1996(1996),Crack A Smile(2000), Holyweird(2002), Best Of Ballads & Blues(2003),The Best Of Poison: 20 Years Of Rock(2006), Poison'd!(2007).

WHITESNAKE

Whitesnake begun in 1977, with critics saying the band had a similar sound to Deep Purple. The band was very popular in the 80's and now are back to rock Wellington.

The current members of Whitesnake are David Coverdale(Vocals), Doug Aldrich(Guitar),Reb Beach(Guitar), Uriah Duffy(Bass), Timonthy Drury(Keyboards),Chris Frazier(Drums).

From 1977, the band has released many albums in different genres of rock and blues, with numerous members.

Snakebite(1978),Trouble(1978),Live at the Hammersmith(1978),Lovehunter(1979),Ready an' Willing(1980), Live…In The Heart Of The City(1980),Come an Get It(1981),Saints & Sinners(1982), Slide It In(1984),Whitesnake(1987),Slip Of The Tongue(1989),Restless Heart(1997),Starkers In Tokyo(Live 1998),Live: In The Shadow Of The Blues(Live 2006).

Whitesnake have also released nine compilation albums with best songs and music from the early years.

OZZY OSBOURNE

Ozzy is ready to bring the house down. Solo artist and formally of legendary band Black Sabbath, Ozzy began his music career in 1968. Ozzy has been in the mix of his own music and TV show, The Osbournes. The living legend will make his mark in Wellington and maybe for the final time.

Ozzy's solo albums have been Blizzard of Ozz(1980),Diary of a Madman(1981),Bark At The Moon(1983),The Ultimate Sin(1986),No Rest For The Wicked(1988),No More Tears(1991),Ozzmosis(1995),Down To Earth(2001),Black Rain(2007). He has released five live albums, Speak Of the Devil (1982), Tribute (1987), Just Say Ozzy (1990), Live & Loud (1993), Live at Budokan (2002).
