Cleaning and maintaining an electric guitar is very crucial to maintain good sound and look. If you want to make your guitar look brand new for a long time, this is the article for you. There are 4 steps to cleaning and maintaining your guitar.
- Take your strings off. If you have a Floyd Rose tremolo system and don't know how, then I will post an article later on how to string/unstring a Floyd Rose.
- Take a very soft, dry cloth to your guitar all over. This removes dust and fingerprints. Basically for looks.
- Use your Finish Polish on the body of the guitar. Follow the instructions on the label. If you don't have any polish then go buy some at the local shop. Every Guitar Center in the world will have polish.
- Wipe off all the polish and take a damp toothbrush to the finger board and frets. This removes skin, dust, grime, and other built up substances that will harm your guitar.
Please note that it is pretty much impossible to protect your guitar from all harm. To do this you would have to put it in an airtight, light resistant, many other things, container.
