Top 10 Songs I Go Emo for

A list of 10 songs that make me emotional.

My friends are surprised each time they ride in my car. The question is not "where are we going?" but "what kind of music are we going to be blessed with today?" Lately, I would have to say that certain unexpected events have caused my normal depressed state to be threatened. When it comes to the fashion and the blogs, I'm lost and I wouldn't know where to buy those striped socks or the hair dye. However, I will admit to cutting my own hair. These are 10 songs I go emo for.

  1. "You Had Me At Hello" by A Day to Remember. Sure, it's a little cheesy but it's also sweet to hear a guy singing "you gave me butterflies."
  2. "Swing Life Away" by Rise Against. It's the easy-going acoustic sound that makes it so easy to relate to.
  3. "It's Not Over" by Secondhand Serenade. This is the first of two songs by Secondhand Serenade to grace my top 10 list. This band is one of my favorites. The sound is pure, and questioning love is so... A few lines for your reflective heart, "I'm falling apart, I'm falling apart/ You're breaking my heart, You're breaking my heart."
  4. This one demands an explanation. I hope no one wants to kill me for this, but in my opinion "Lovin' You Against My Will" by Gary Allan is incredibly emo. He really doesn't want to be in love, and we don't either. It hurts too much.
  5. When you think emo, you think blood and now "Bleeding Love" by Leona Lewis.Yes, you heard me! Listen to the song. It's so emo.
  6. "Only One" by Yellowcard. I absolutely love this song. There's only one line I have to quote to justify it's emotional qualifications: "Scream my lungs out and try to get to you!" Isn't that the most romantic thing you've ever heard?
  7. I promised a second. "Vulnerable" by Secondhand Serenade is that song that will get stuck in your head and make you cry for days. This band is so easy to sing along to. Love makes everyone a baby.
  8. When you get tired of all the hurt, "Liar (It Takes One to Know One)" by Taking Back Sunday. Then you should check out every other song they've ev er sang!
  9. "Sometimes love (or the wanting) is overwhelming. You just want to live and breathe. When you think of emo bands, one of the first that comes to mind is Hawthorne Heights. "Rescue Me" is off the band's newest album. If I can't pick up this album by the end of the week I'm going to cut my wrists.
  10. Stolen" by Dashboard Confessional. I know when you hear the bands name you think Spiderman and "Vindicated." I like that song too, but when it comes to emotion "Stolen" is your anthem. I won't let you read any further without telling you "you have stolen my heart." Ahhh...
