As someone who has always championed British Rock and Roll, it has come as a bit of a shock to me that I have included 3 American Bands on this list. In my mind, these are probably the first U.S. groups who would deserve a place on such a list since Nirvana.
I don’t have a problem with American music, or musicians as such. I just have a genuine belief that this is one area where Britain does it best. America does produce wave upon wave of high class, formulaic soft rock bands and there seems to be little room for the angst of a Radiohead, or the rebel yell of The Libertines.
For the uninitiated of you, The Libertines only lasted 2 albums before in fighting brought a premature end to proceedings. Up The Bracket especially is a masterful offering and I would advise all of you to pick it up along with its sidekick, The Libertines.
There are a lot of great acts out there and it promises to be an exciting decade
