Chosen Few II: The CD That Broke UBO's Rack?

What happens when probably the largest reggaeton/urban music distributor puts major dollars behind mediocre projects, they go belly up! This is my review on the last project put out by UBO/Chosen Few II.

I am probably just as confused if not as disappointed as some of you may be. I know it took me a while but I listened to every track on the album both sober as well as inebriated (in one way or another) and this is my opinion, a right I have been offered by this great constitution of these United States of America . For what ever my opinion is worth I will be considerate in my judgment, as I always am, because Mr. Wonder is a very hard worker and has done great things for the genera. As a critic as well as a fan I can certainly appreciate the effort put in to putting this project together and the mélange of artists offered making the album worth even considering. The first one was a very well composed “project”. Underrated and slept on by many in the industry. Part one was where “the streets” really met the top dogs of the game and exclusive material on Tempo and his whole ordeal (Free Tempo). But how is Boy Wonder going to do it on this one?

For starters, we were given remixes and re-edited versions of songs that have burned a hole in my radio speakers from the constant air play on just about every Reggaeton Mix Show in the world. There are a few songs that should have never left the note pad they were scribbled in. The intro song “ This is the Chosen Few All Stars” was a nice start to the album, a little long and drawn out , but nice . But as much as I like LDA's tenacity towards the game (not that I like them) I can't understand why such a big project would be set off with one of their songs. “Ooh Ah” not one of there best tracks at all. It was an excellent position with a mediocre (at best) out come.

Dope Tracks (Possible Classics):

Hello Mama - El Father ft. Yomo: I like the combo Hector gives Yomo the “aire” to talk all the smack he wants cause Hector is after all …El Father.

*Atrevete- Wisin Y Yandel ft. El “Gorilla”: El duo de la historia have the touch right now and El Gorilla is literally an “Animal” watch that mammal cause he's a beast on the come up!

Te Invito Al Party - LDA ft. Zion y Lennox : (non classic) with a good production, the right track with a twist of a nice feature, any thing is possible (less of Negra would be even better!).

Cool Tracks:

Baby Ranks – Mambo: something to grove to nothing special (not a classic)

Angel Doze – Me Encanta: not bad but is it me or does he remind yall of somebody…?

Getto – Pase Lo Que Pase: cool track I like this cats grime he reminds me of Tempo in a way.

Yaviah – Al Suelo: Funny cat, I like this joint

Fuego – Vente Conmigo: nice mellow love jump off not a bad track to kick it to a shorty with.

Manny Montes – Right Through: this cat is nice, crisp clear delivery and spit'n some sh@t!

Jowell y Randy – No Voy A Parar: I get the same feeling from them that I got from Zion y Lenox, different sound but same feeling.

Burnt out by:

Plan B – Frikitona: the track speaks for its self pure reggaeton!

Don Omar- Reggaeton Latino (Chosen Few Remix): it made the first one a classic but it's not doing much for the follow up.

Wasn't Impressed by:

Pitbull & Alexi y Fido - for some reason I could get with it at some points Pitbull's hook is what really held me down “get off me hater, hater get off me…” LOL!

Angel y Khriz – Uh – Oh: the hook sounds like something off a Menudo track.

Alejandro Sanz ft. Getto : two lava rocks don't a volcano make. Being that it's Sanz on the hook I wouldn't expect anything too crazy, as far as the beat, but this track was way too simple and Getto's flow sounds like a feature by one of them feature rappers from back in the day when “Spanish Rap” was the new sh@t. I don't think I would ever listen to this song again.

Reychesta Secretweapon – No Me Digas Que Debo Hacer: I didn't categorize this track in the junk pile because of this cats delivery and presence. Otherwise this track is on the wack side.

Tempo ft. Getto , Reychesta Secretweapon - Revelacion (Chosen Few Remix): don't know why yall even touch any of that mans music unless it's to make “a classic”. Getto is not bad and Tempo, ni se diga, can't say the same for the rest of the song.

LDA – Hoy (Remix, CF I) : what can I say…it's LDA

You have the right to have your opinion on  the music because at the end of the day your entitled to it but then again it's always just SUBJECTIVE! However, my only critique about your write-up is that you do your research.  You must have all your facts down before you try to inform your public. It seems to me that you only relied on one source for your information, and for the most part it's all garbage.  My question to you is what UBO project would you say was worth spending 5 dollars on or at best even $1 on?  The only project that was ever worth spending a dime on was Chosen Few.  Either your a novice at listening to the genre or someone paid you off to write this, because at the end of the day UBO made poor decisions on what they considered Talent.  Do you remember Bimbo???? The animated cartoon and the great gas give away Need I Say Anymore!!!!!!!  Please research and truly familiarize yourself with subject in hand...

Nilla is sweet and it sounds like you were either never given you last paycheck at UBO or no one there thought you were talented enough to sign you as an artist. But I have done my reaserch and like i said in the articl "some" not all of what came out of UBO was ok. And by ok i mean "Mosa" "Chosen Few I"( 1/2 a million copies sold), "Andy Andy" and probably a few others but i do remember that Bimbo crap and he sold like 2 copies and you probably have one from when you went to fill up your tank with free gas the other was probably snatched up by the gas station attendant. I also remember Joa, Daddy Nemesis, Heather Hunters Cartoon DVD, and that kid from that washed up Salsa group DLG who actually confirmed to me that the UBO heads were out of there minds and had too much money to through away. No one pays me for nothing I pay myself for what I do other wise i wouldn't waste my time, life is a hustle sweety don't hate participate.

I disagree with the entire article being that I know a little info from the works of UBO. The downfall happened not because of the project but because of the greedy CEO's and upper management. I mean who pays girls off the streets 10-14 dollars an hour to sell a chosen few cd plus per diems for only 10 dollars per CD? That means they have to sell 6-8 for their salaries and a lot more to make money. Also, read on the documents UBO filed when they did go bankrupt. Manuel is not the easiest spender as well. Who also rents out dozens of cars for people to keep and pays some retard assistant 80000 a year for a start up company that could have succeeded with so much talent if it weren't for the snide Adam Kidron. White man making a spanish Star Spangled Banner popular. One must question with all the media attention why didn't more investors invest? I guess the rent was too expensive on Wall Street. Do the Math Revenue-Costs of Employees-Tour-Distribution-Business Costs and ect. UBO's downfall was due to the lack of care for the survival of the company. Hey, FYI if you were a female working for them your rent was ok for the time it existed. Freedom of Speech.
